Whoo! On saturday George cut his first tooth. His right front tooth has suddenly appeared after starting to have actual solid food. HORRAY!
George now also has 3 meals a day;
Breakfast: Baby Rice (optional fruit)
Lunch: Finger Foods
Dinner: Pureed Food
We are doing this as he's not putting on enough weight as the health visitor would like, so we are giving him more solid food, along with breast feeding :)
Im so sorry I haven't updated in a while, Its been very busy and we haven't really done much as I've been revising, But be sure to keep updated as I will be posting more often as we're doing more stuff.

Solids
I tried baby rice for the first time on the 7Th June and he absolutely loved it! Since then I've had tried carrots, which he wasn't to keen on so I will try again in a few weeks and pear which he couldn't get enough of! As happy as I am that my little boy is growing up and I love watching his progress... I miss being the only thing he depended on most. They just grow so fast!! I will upload a photo of him eating when I can find my camera ;)

Parade
Yesterday I took George down to see the parade in Ryde for the jubilee, but he didn't particularly like it as there was very loud music, plus we only caught the end of it. Will try again next time. Unfortunately I have no photos as I forgot my camera.

Little Adventure
Today we went to Butterfly World with Grandad and Uncle Beau. He slept through the first time we went round, but after we had our lunch we went round again so he could have a look at the Butterflies as he's never seen one before. He loved them, tried to grab a few. He just stared at them in curiosity. He also loved the sound and look of the running water, and also the fishes. He also sat up almost perfectly by himself, I only held onto his wrist.
Afterwards we went to Puckpool park where he went in a nest swing with Uncle Beau, loved it but was unsure at first. Unfortunately my camera died after that, but he also experienced his first slide ride, round about and those rocking animals. All together a fun filled day, and most of all a day that George enjoyed.

A Little Bit Of History
Thought I should give you a little bit of history about George and I and when our relationship started in the big wide world.
I went into labour at 6am on the 3rd of January and after 4 hours went to the hospital. When they examined me I was already 8cm so I went straight to the labour suit. I was then in labour for another 4 hours. They then had to pop my waters as they wouldn't pop on their own. When they did they found that he had pooed in his waters so they had to monitor his heart beat and my contractions to make sure that he was OK. After roughly an hour of pushing he started to make an appearance but his shoulder got stuck and they were having trouble helping to remove him. Then they saw that the cord was around his neck and he was going blue, so they were desperately trying to get him out quickly. He then appeared and was laid on me and he wasn't breathing, His face was bright blue and his body was completely white. They took him away straight away and resuscitated him, and then brought him in to quickly show Ainslie and I and then quickly whisked him off to NICU.

They said he had HIE grade 2- Moderate neonatal Encephalopathy. He had suffered badly and was traumatised, was very tense and was having seizures. They kept him sedated to make sure that his muscle wouldn't weaken from the hypotonia and to let his brain heal quicker. He also suffered from Respiratory distress syndrome (Struggle to breathe because of immature lungs) as he was born at 38+4weeks. They then discovered he also had Gastro-oesophageal reflux (Acid reflux).
I was unable to touch him until he was four days old and I wasn't able to hold him until he was 6days old. This was obviously a very hard time for me. I stayed in hospital with him until he was discharged when he was 7days old.
He is now safe and home with me and is growing to be a strong and healthy little boy, and although that was a tough time, it really made me appreciate every moment with George. Here's a few photo's showing our first week and also what labour had done to face! enjoy...

Introducing Ourselves
Hello, My name is Shannon. I'm 16years old and I have a 5Month old son called George. I thought I would start a blog to show that young mum's can be good mum's. I will be posting bits and bobs about Georges progress, special moments and things we've all been up to.
At the moment George can roll over from his tummy to his back, almost there from his back to tummy. He loves his door bouncer and was a pro at it from the moment he got in it. He has a cuddly toy called snuggles that we take around with him, mainly to hold his dummy in, but it's become more of a comforter now. He sleeps in his carry cot next to mummy and wakes up about 2-3 time a night. George can almost sit up on his own, give his a few more weeks and he would of mastered it. He loves his toys, but tends to pull the danggly bits off his play gym. He's a BIG mummy's boy and loves to have cuddles. He's a very special little boy and I shall keep you up dated on his progression.
